NOURISHING THE THREE TREASURES

One-Day Online

Replenishing Summer Retreat

Revitalize your body and spirit by spending a day immersed in simple yet powerful practices to nourish your Jing, Qi, and Shen

July 29th, 2023

11:00 am — 5:00 pm Central Time

Summer is a time when nature is flourishing and expressing its full potential. Life-force energy is pulsing through you and you may feel more naturally energized and joyful.

However, in our already Yang (active) culture, if you're not careful, the faster pace and heightened energy can leave you burnt out. You may try to do too much in a short period of time and end up feeling depleted.

In order to bring the Yang energy of summer into balance, this mid-way point is a great time to:

  • Quiet down the external noise so you can re-connect with the deep aliveness within you
  • Connect with your body and senses so you can slow down and be present this summer
  • Use the potent energy of this time to nourish yourself so you can live in a state of overflowing energy

“Renew yourself every day completely, make yourself anew daily,
still anew today, and every day anew.”
—Shang Dynasty proverb

Join us for our Replenishing Summer Retreat!

In this retreat we'll be doing:

Eight Brocades Seated Qigong

A powerful set of Taoist exercises used for health rejuvenation and Internal Alchemy

Seasonal Qigong Practice of Chen Tuan

Chen Tuan’s exercises are specific Qigong regimens designed for particular seasons of the year.

Tracing the Wall
Standing Qigong

These calming yet energizing movements get Qi and blood flowing throughout the whole body.

These practices help your body feel nourished and replenished, radiating with Qi.

Talk and Q&A

Along with these practices, Stuart will share Taoist advice for  harmonizing your health and cultivation with the summer season.

Join us to hit the reset button on your summer. This retreat will help you to:

  • Come into your body to reconnect with the flow of nature and the Tao

  • Clear overstimulating excess energy

  • Fill yourself with fresh, flowing, nourishing energy

So you can creatively express yourself and your potential with joyful ease

These practices are simple yet powerful methods of cultivating the Three Treasures, the three energies of the body that give us life:

Jing

Essence

Qi

Life-Force Energy

Shen

Spirit

When the Three Treasures are restored it gives you a feeling of being light, strong, and energized.

One of the students of the Internal Alchemy class shared that after utilizing just one practice that we’ll be practicing in the retreat, his acupuncturist said “there’s nothing I need to treat you for today” because all his vitals looked so good.

These things help you cultivate “youthfulness in old age,” so you can combine youthful vitality with the wisdom of age—so you can use both toward awakening your Spirit if you so choose.

These are some examples of how we will replenish our internal energies during this retreat:

Replenish Your Jing

We’ll do practices to stimulate and build our bodily fluids that make up our Jing—for example by:

  • Swirling the tongue to stimulate the saliva
  • Massaging the meridians to stimulate the lymph
  • Increasing blood flow by warming areas with breath, movement, and massage

Replenish Your Qi

In this retreat, we'll:

  • Coordinate our breath with our movements to cultivate Qi.
  • Do practices to eliminate tension so Qi can freely move.
  • Use our breath, movement, and mind-intent to guide the Qi through the body.

Replenish your Shen

We'll do these practices:

  • With one-pointed focus
